Justin Phillips, MAMFC, LPC

Justin Phillips is a Licensed Professional Counselor who provides individual, couples, and family counseling at Birmingham Counseling and Wellness.  Justin’s devotion to counseling is rooted in a love for God and people, serving them in hopes of meeting various needs and facilitating change in their lives using many different therapeutic interventions. He has developed a passion for working with couples in need and individuals who has experienced trauma in any form. He specializes in working with Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and a Solution-focused therapeutic model. Also, he is certified to administer the PREPARE/ENRICH battery of pre-marital and marital inventories, and is trained in several nationally-recognized programs such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is highly effective for trauma-specific work with any age. Justin has done extensive research in mental health and wellness; believing exercise, a healthy diet, and getting enough sleep play a vital role in a person’s spiritual, mental, and emotion state. Justin has over 5 years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and adults (individual and couples).

He is currently working on his doctorate degree in Psychology and Counseling at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, where he graduated from the Master of Arts program in Marriage and Family Counseling (MAMFC). Prior to seminary, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of West Georgia, where he focused in the study of religious philosophy. Justin is a native of Georgia, hailing from the great city of Atlanta. Justin has been married to the love of his life for 6 years and they have two daughters.
